Italian police arrest dozens of mobsters

The investigators moved in with 47 arrest warrants: Italian special forces in and around Naples Camorra, arrested dozens of suspected members. Investigators also confiscated Mafia property worth several million euros, including a yacht.

Naples - Italian special forces have seized on Wednesday in Naples and surrounding arrested dozens of suspected Camorra members and mafia assets worth about three million euros. The investigators moved on to the big raid with a total of 47 arrest warrants, as the news agency Ansa reported.

Arrested were alleged members of a notorious mafia clans not only in Campania, but also in five other regions of Italy.



Anti-Mafia prosecutors in Naples coordinated the crackdown, when a yacht was seized. The police action was directed against the Mallardo clan. The Italian mafia had been rebuilt after the earlier arrest and conviction of their bosses and had alliances with other mafia groups around Naples received.

The clan is accused of drug trafficking, extortion and possession of illegal weapons. The former boss of the clan, the brothers Giuseppe and Francesco Mallardo sit, from a life sentence.
